Fulton County Fiascos Tarnish Reputation of Peachtree State and Nation

Reflecting on my family’s legacy and my 30-plus years as a business owner in Georgia, I am grateful for the opportunity to run a successful Black-owned business with my wife.

Having been involved in politics since the age of 18, I often find myself discussing the state of Georgia, particularly Fulton County, with fellow business-people across the country.

Everywhere I go, I hear jokes at the expense of Fulton County, and I never imagined that our political system would be used to target individuals who have been active in the community for years simply for questioning the 2020 election.

The alleged misuse of taxpayer funds and resources by the district attorney, Fani Willis, has left many business owners in Fulton County feeling surprised and concerned about the reputation of our county.

Additionally, the Department of Justice’s investigation of the Fulton County jail and the backlog of cases involving violent criminals have further added to the negative perception of our county.

This situation is damaging the reputation of our county and may deter potential businesses from establishing themselves here. I recently spoke to a franchise proprietor who expressed a lack of trust in our judicial system, leading him to avoid setting up a franchise in Fulton County.

Regardless of political affiliation, it is clear that these issues are not beneficial for Georgia or its citizens.

If we allow this behavior to continue, we are all at risk of being impacted by it. It is important for us to address these issues for the well-being of our state and our nation.
