GOP Demands Group’s Endorsement Hinges on Support for Abortion Ban
The Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America organization is asking Republican candidates for the 2024 election to support a national ban on abortions in exchange for their endorsement. The president of the organization, Marjorie Dannenfelser, stated that candidates must disclose how they would restrict abortion access in states like California, Illinois, and New York. She also expressed concern that candidates are hesitant to take a stance on the issue due to the U.S. Supreme Court potentially overturning the Roe v. Wade decision. Democrats, on the other hand, are pushing for the passage of the Women’s Health Protection Act to codify Roe v. Wade and ensure access to abortion across the country. Currently, abortions are illegal in 13 states, leading to difficulties in accessing care for many individuals.
