Haley Complains to Interviewer About Excessive Obsession with Trump
Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley became visibly upset when questioned during an ABC News interview that aired Sunday about former President Donald Trump targeting political enemies if he were to become president.
During “This Week” co-anchor Jonathan Karl’s statement that Trump is campaigning on a “retribution” platform — and that he “speaks about destroying his enemies and using the criminal justice system to do so” — and his question about Haley’s opinion, the former U.N. ambassador responded, “You guys are exhausting.”
“You’re exhausting,” she continued, “in your obsession with him.”
Haley, who has consistently called for Trump to debate her, added, “The thing is, normal people aren’t fixated on Trump like you are. Normal people are concerned about not being able to afford things. They feel like their freedoms are being eroded. They believe the government is too overbearing.”
“I understand you want to discuss every single word he says and every tweet he posts. That’s exactly why we need a new-generation leader, because people don’t want to hear about every word a person says or every tweet. They want to know how you fought for them that day, and they want to know how their life will be different.”
“And life will be a whole lot different if the media would stop being obsessed with Trump.”
Karl responded, “I mean, I was just asking about his main campaign theme, which is, I want — you know, I am your retribution. And he’s leading in the polls. That’s why I’m asking. It’s not an obsession. I’m asking about the leading candidate that you’ve been running against.”
