Investigation Launched by House Judiciary Committee into Deadly ATF Raid

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, is calling for the release of documents and communications related to the incident that resulted in the death of former Clinton National Airport Executive Director Bryan Malinowski during an early morning raid.

According to The Washington Post, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agents raided Malinowski’s home in Little Rock, Arkansas on March 19 to execute a search warrant.

Malinowski, 53, was under investigation for buying over 150 guns between May 2021 and Feb. 27, 2024, and selling them without a license, as stated in the arrest affidavit.

When Malinowski heard people entering his home, he armed himself with a handgun and fired three shots at a low angle, possibly towards the agents’ feet, according to family attorney Bud Cummins who spoke to KATV. The agents then returned fire, resulting in Malinowski’s death.

On Monday, Jordan sent a letter to ATF Director Steven Dettelbach requesting documents and communications regarding the incident.

Jordan expressed concerns about the lack of body-worn cameras on ATF agents during the raid, as well as the use of a “no knock” entry technique by the ATF. He emphasized that the circumstances surrounding Malinowski’s death raise questions about the ATF’s adherence to protocols.

Jordan set a deadline of 5 p.m. on Monday, May 6, for Dettelbach to provide the requested information.
