John Bolton Compares Trump’s FBI Director Choice Kash Patel to Stalin’s Lieutenant – One America News Network

John Bolton, who served as the national security advisor for President-elect Donald Trump, has urged the Senate to dismiss Trump’s nomination of Kash Patel as FBI Director, comparing Patel to the former head of Soviet secret police.

Following his termination in 2019, Trump referred to Bolton as a “whack job” due to Bolton’s aggressive foreign policy views.
“Trump has nominated Kash Patel to be his Lavrenty [sic] Beria,” Bolton stated. “Fortunately, the FBI is not the NKVD [People’s Commissariat for Internal Affairs].”
This remark by Bolton referenced Lavrentiy Beria, a notorious figure known for his role as the head of the Soviet secret police under Joseph Stalin, infamous for his extensive surveillance and terror tactics.
“The Senate should reject this nomination 100-0,” Bolton further expressed.
Bolton’s criticism came after Patel announced plans to “shut down the FBI Hoover Building on day one and reopen the next day as a museum of the deep state.”
This historic nomination of a so-called outsider for the FBI leadership position has garnered support from Trump’s allies, with some asserting that Trump’s choice is validated by the discontent expressed by establishment figures like Bolton.
“John Bolton has been wrong about everything so I guess Kash must be pretty awesome,” noted Vice President-elect JD Vance in a post on X.
“I must say, the wailing and gnashing of teeth from those pulling their hair out are precisely the individuals who fear the arrival of a genuine reformer to the FBI who will eradicate the corrupted partisans who have unfortunately entrenched themselves in senior roles within the bureau,” added Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas).
Patel is also the author of “Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy,” and has investigated claims regarding the Trump-Russia collusion narrative.
Furthermore, Bolton participated in a debate in October against Trump supporter and DOGE head, Vivek Ramaswamy, where Bolton ridiculed the notion of a “deep state.”
“The assertion that we are governed by a deep state is deeply paranoid,” Bolton remarked.
Ramaswamy countered by highlighting the multitude of unelected bureaucrats within the federal government, swaying audience opinion in a poll taken during the event.
“Tonight, I debated John Bolton at Virginia Military Institute on U.S. foreign policy: neoconservatism versus America First. Initially, 19% of the audience concurred with my stance. By the conclusion, that number had jumped to 55%. This is how we save America – by engaging and persuading our fellow citizens,” Ramaswamy shared in a social media update.
