Lieutenant Chris Olivarez Tells Newsmax: Unacceptable Loss of Life in Border Crisis

Illegal immigration is causing too many lives to be lost, either through violent crime or the influx of fentanyl into the country, according to Lt. Christopher Olivarez of the Texas Department of Public Safety, speaking to Newsmax on Sunday.

Olivarez pointed out a significant difference in how President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump would address the issue.

Unlike Biden, Trump spoke out about victims of violent crimes committed by illegal immigrants, such as Georgia nursing student Laken Riley, who was tragically killed on her college campus. The individual charged in Riley’s death had previously been arrested and released in New York City.

In addition to violent crimes, Olivarez emphasized the ongoing problem of fentanyl entering the country illegally.

He highlighted the lack of crime data sharing with the FBI in many cities and states where illegal immigrants are residing, pointing out that there may be more unreported crimes occurring.

Olivarez stressed the need for the federal government to secure the border and ensure proper processing of individuals, in order to prevent unnecessary loss of lives due to illegal immigration.

Both Olivarez and National Border Patrol Council President Art Del Cueto, who appeared on the same program, were present with Trump on the border.

Del Cueto criticized Biden for his lack of action on the border issue and highlighted the release of over 6,000 individuals into the country daily, without proper tracking by the administration.

He also expressed the frustration of Border Patrol agents who feel unfairly blamed for the situation, despite inadequate leadership and policies.
