McConnell Issues Warning to Biden: Rejecting Israeli Aid Would Have Serious Consequences
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell issued a warning on the Senate floor, stating that the “consequences will be grave” if President Joe Biden does not have the “political courage to stand up to radicals on his left flank” and support Israel.
McConnell criticized Biden’s decision to withhold U.S. weapons from being used in an Israeli attack out of concerns for civilian casualties, claiming that it will lead other allies to question America’s commitment.
The senator emphasized that refusing to back an ally at war will have negative repercussions, causing nations to seek security elsewhere and emboldening enemies.
While acknowledging the difficulties and tragedies of war, McConnell highlighted Israel’s efforts to minimize harm to civilians and condemned Hamas for using human suffering as a weapon.
He pointed out that Israel made efforts to avoid the conflict and negotiate a cease-fire, but Hamas exploited the situation by planning for war and targeting civilian areas.
McConnell also criticized the media coverage and expressed concerns about leftist support for terrorists, putting pressure on Biden to choose between supporting Israel or pleasing his political base.
He warned that Biden’s decision could lead to further demands and concessions at his party’s convention, reflecting on past protests and urging against caving to radical demands.
