Newsmax receives information from Bolton suggesting ISIS-K involvement in Moscow attack
Former United Nations ambassador John Bolton expressed concerns to Newsmax on Tuesday regarding the identity of the perpetrators behind the recent attack in Moscow, suggesting possible ISIS-K involvement based on available information.
“All we have seen publicly available indicates that the individuals arrested are from Tajikistan, which is far from Ukraine,” he stated on “Eric Bolling The Balance”.
Bolton stressed the importance of investigating the arrested individuals in connection with the attack, noting their origins and lack of Ukrainian ties.
“It would align with past Islamic terror attacks within Russia that ISIS-K might be behind this. There is no evidence of Ukrainian involvement or connections to Ukraine by these individuals,” he added.
In response to Russian President Vladimir Putin’s claims blaming Ukraine, Bolton suggested that such allegations could assist Putin’s political agenda by diverting attention from security weaknesses in Moscow.
“Putin’s assertion that Ukraine was responsible serves his purpose to distract from the vulnerability exposed by this attack, showcasing his inability to protect targets in Moscow and possibly justifying attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine,” Bolton reasoned.
Bolton highlighted the threat posed by ISIS-K, citing previous attacks in Iran and Afghanistan as evidence of their operational capabilities.
Regarding the potential presence of ISIS-K operatives in the US, Bolton urged vigilance and drew comparisons between the porous US southern border and the risk of infiltration by extremist elements.
While acknowledging the possibility of Russian involvement, Bolton cited historical instances of Russian security forces manipulating terrorist incidents for political gains.
