Pence Reaches Minimum Donation Requirement for First Debate
Former Vice President Mike Pence has reached the necessary threshold of 40,000 unique donors to participate in the first Republican presidential debate. His campaign was the first to submit the verified numbers to the Republican National Committee (RNC). The debate is scheduled for August 23 and will be hosted by Fox News. Other candidates who have qualified for the debate include Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Senator Tim Scott, former Governor Nikki Haley, former Governor Chris Christie, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum. Former President Donald Trump, for whom Pence served as vice president, has met the requirements but has indicated he may not participate due to his frontrunner status. Despite polling numbers far behind Trump’s, Pence’s campaign has challenged him to appear at the debate. Pence’s campaign reached the donor threshold in nine weeks, quicker than some of the other qualified candidates, and emphasized that they achieved it without gimmicks or giveaways. They also reported that their donations primarily came from candidate events and direct mail, rather than digital outreach efforts.
