Rep. Buddy Carter Tells Newsmax: We Must Prioritize Secure Borders and Take a Firm Stand Against Terrorism

Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., issued a call on Newsmax Saturday for stringent border security and an uncompromising stance against terrorism in Congress.

Carter emphasized during an appearance on “Wake Up America” the critical need to safeguard the nation’s borders and maintain an unwavering commitment to preventing any connections between lawmakers and terrorist organizations.

“Look, if you have ties to terrorist organizations or if you support terrorist organizations, there’s no place for you in the United States Congress, and you don’t need to be there,” he said.

On Wednesday, the House overwhelmingly passed a resolution in a 412-10-6 vote, expressing strong support for Israel and condemning Hamas.

The resolution declared that the House “stands with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists” and “reaffirms Israel’s right to self-defense.” It also “condemns Hamas’ brutal war against Israel” and calls on the U.S.-designated terrorist group “to immediately cease these violent attacks and safely release all living hostages and return the bodies of deceased hostages,” reported The Hill.

The congressman expressed his disappointment in the 10 members who did not support the resolution, stating that it was evident that the overwhelming majority of members were in favor of it.

“I’m very, very disappointed that these people who did not support this; this is obvious. It was overwhelming with only just a few of them who didn’t. … If you support terrorism, if you have ties to terrorism, there’s no place for you in the United States,” he said.

Carter addressed the issue of border security and its potential connection to national security. He voiced his concerns about the porous nature of the U.S.-Mexico border, highlighting the ease with which people are crossing into the country.

He warned against naivety in assuming that terrorists might not exploit this vulnerability to infiltrate the United States, saying, “Oh, no question about it. Listen, that is a porous border. I mean, people are crossing that; and we would be naive to think that they’re not terrorists who are coming across that border with the intention of hurting us.”

He argued that safeguarding the homeland was the federal government’s primary responsibility and that it could be achieved only through strong and secure borders.

“This administration is just ridiculous in what they’re doing right now. They are not doing anything at all to protect us, and we’re just welcoming in people who truly do want to hurt us,” he said.

“And that is, you know, the No. 1 responsibility of our federal government is to protect our homeland. And we can only do that through strong borders, through secure borders. So this is just ridiculous what this administration is doing right now.”
