Rep. Comer Tells Newsmax: AG Garland Shielding Biden

Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., explained to Newsmax on Tuesday that Attorney General Merrick Garland is believed to be shielding President Joe Biden by hindering the House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into allegations of influence peddling and other criminal activities involving Biden and his family.

Garland has rejected subpoenas by Comer, the chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, and Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, for the release of audio recordings of interviews conducted by special counsel Robert Hur with Biden and Biden’s ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer.

While transcripts of the interviews from Hur’s investigation into Biden’s mishandling of classified documents were provided, Comer and Jordan are seeking the actual audio recordings and other documents.

Due to Garland’s refusal to comply with the subpoena, the House is gearing up to vote next week on holding him in contempt of Congress.

“[Garland] attempted to shield [Biden] by appointing special counsel Robert Hur,” Comer emphasized during an interview on “Rob Schmitt Tonight.” “We were conducting our own investigation into Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents before Hur’s appointment revealed contradictory details. However, the appointment of Hur hindered our progress in obtaining necessary documents. Now, post-investigation, we are seeking the audio recordings as something significant must have transpired during the interview for Hur to describe Joe Biden in such a manner.”

Comer expressed disappointment in the fact that Hur’s investigation failed to address whether the documents present in emails sent by Hunter Biden to foreign entities, who reportedly transferred millions of dollars to the Bidens, were part of the classified documents mishandled by Joe Biden. This crucial aspect was omitted from Hur’s report, despite its relevance.

“Our concerns revolve around the documents stored on Hunter Biden’s emails during a period of drug use and influence peddling. These documents were housed at the Biden Penn Center, established with funds from anonymous donors, including the Chinese Communist Party, who transferred $8 million to the Bidens. We desired clarity on this issue, which Hur chose not to address, leading me to believe there was an effort to protect Joe Biden at Garland’s behest.”
