Rep. Diaz-Balart Calls Migrants’ Lawsuits Against Charter Companies ‘Absurd,’ Tells Newsmax

Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart, R-Fla., expressed his disbelief to Newsmax on Tuesday regarding a federal judge’s ruling that migrants can sue the charter companies that transported them to Martha’s Vineyard, calling it “the definition of insanity, of absurdity.”

Diaz-Balart, speaking on Newsmax’s “Carl Higbie FRONTLINE,” pointed out that the migrants were sent to a sanctuary community that openly welcomed individuals who are in the country illegally, providing them with benefits and assistance. He highlighted the consequences of socialist and leftist policies, emphasizing their dangers and unsustainability.

Massachusetts District Court Judge Allison Burroughs ruled on Tuesday that the migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard by Gov. Ron DeSantis two years ago can pursue legal action against the charter flight company. While some counts against Vertol Systems Co. were dismissed, the company still faces several counts.

The migrants, who were promised better housing, work, and educational opportunities, were flown to Martha’s Vineyard from San Antonio as part of a Republican governor-led initiative to showcase the impact of the Biden administration’s lenient immigration policies on sanctuary cities.

Diaz-Balart expressed eagerness for the potential return of former President Donald Trump to the Oval Office, criticizing the Biden administration’s handling of various crises and calling every day with Biden as president a disaster.
