Rep. Fallon to Newsmax: Removing Speaker Would Lead to ‘Conservative Turmoil’

Rep. Pat Fallon, R-Texas, informed Newsmax on Wednesday that attempting to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., would result in “conservative chaos” and benefit the Democrats before the 2024 general election.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., met with Johnson twice this week but did not confirm her plans to force a vote on a motion to vacate the speaker’s chair. Greene mentioned that “the ball is in Mike Johnson’s court” after demanding certain assurances from him.

Fallon expressed on “National Report” that the motion to oust Johnson is “not helpful,” particularly after the struggles in selecting Johnson following Kevin McCarthy’s departure last year.

Fallon emphasized that Greene’s motion would lead to “conservative chaos” in the chamber and benefit the Democrats just months before the November election.

He stated, “Mike is our speaker,” and encouraged giving him the opportunity to work towards conservative goals for the rest of the year.
