Rep. Good Tells Newsmax: I am the Ideal Candidate to Assist Trump in Winning the Election

Rep. Bob Good, R-Va., emphasized his belief on Newsmax that he is the best candidate to support former President Donald Trump in reclaiming the White House, despite Trump endorsing his opponent, state Sen. John McGuire, in Virginia’s primary election.

“We’re confident in our victory,” Good, who leads the House Freedom Caucus, said on “Wake Up America,” as Virginia voters cast their ballots. “Our focus is on that.”

Good also expressed his commitment to aiding Trump’s success, despite endorsing Trump’s primary opponent, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, early in the GOP primary process.

“My opponent cannot provide any assistance, not at all,” Good stated. “I am one of the leading conservatives, if not the top conservative leader, in Virginia.”

He added that he aims to rally disappointed conservatives who were let down by Trump’s endorsement of McGuire, to encourage their support for Trump and generate enthusiasm.

“We must elect him,” Good affirmed. “After four years of [Joe] Biden, everyone is worse off, except for illegal immigrants. … I will continue to back President Trump and do everything possible to secure his election and win Virginia.”

Good expressed optimism about a “significant victory” in Tuesday’s primary election.

“Many in Washington will fail to comprehend our victory,” Good remarked. “But by delivering on promises, fighting for what Republican voters stand for, they will support you.”

Good also highlighted the support his campaign has garnered from grassroots voters and county GOP leaders.

“My opponent has adopted a strategy similar to Biden’s hiding in basements, relying on million-dollar ads from Washington insiders who resist change,” Good explained. “They expect something in return for the millions they have spent to elect someone other than me in the 5th District.

“Washington figures opposed to me are backing my opponent, but the people of the 5th District will not be misled by this.”

When asked about his support for DeSantis, Good maintained his focus on supporting Trump and urged unity behind him.

“Those who ran against him now support him,” Good stated. “Some are rumored to be vice presidential candidates or part of his Cabinet. … I am not dwelling on what happened a year ago.”

Good also stressed that although he backed DeSantis, he was not against Trump and had vowed to support him enthusiastically if he became the nominee.

“Now, we transition to the general election,” Good remarked. “We must combat the biased courts trying to convict [Trump] and imprison him.

“We must expose this as political persecution, an abuse of power, and injustice.”
