Rep. Malliotakis accuses Cuomo of dodging blame for COVID policy on Newsmax

Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., criticized former New York Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo for failing to take responsibility for decisions made during the COVID-19 pandemic. She expressed her views during an interview on Newsmax on Wednesday.

According to Malliotakis, while testifying before a House committee about a policy that required nursing homes to admit COVID-positive patients, Cuomo dodged accountability, despite the directive having his and the health commissioner’s names on it.

Malliotakis, who took part in the closed-door hearing of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, revealed that Cuomo shifted blame to various entities and individuals, including a mystery staff member at the Department of Health, the federal government, and nursing homes themselves.

She found it “unbelievable” that Cuomo failed to conduct an internal investigation to identify the staff member responsible for the deadly mandate. Additionally, she disputed Cuomo’s claims that he was following federal guidelines, emphasizing that these were recommendations rather than mandates.

Cuomo also refused to apologize for the directive or indicate any remorse or willingness to change his actions. Malliotakis expressed disbelief at his lack of accountability and suggested that further investigation was needed to uncover the truth.
