Rep. Malliotakis Tells Newsmax: Biden’s Border Order is Just “Window Dressing”

According to Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., President Joe Biden’s executive order regarding the U.S. southern border is merely “window dressing” and will not address the issue of illegal immigration, as reported by Newsmax on Wednesday.

Biden announced his plan on Tuesday to use an executive order to close the border if daily encounters between legal ports of entry reach 2,500, and reopen if they decrease below an average of 1,500 per day.

The Associated Press stated that the last time the daily average arrests for illegal crossings along the southern border were below 2,500 was in January 2021, right before Biden took office.

Malliotakis expressed her thoughts on “National Report”, suggesting that Biden’s order to close the border if illegal crossings exceed 2,500 per day won’t solve the border problem.

She explained, “It won’t work because it would only restrict entry to 2,500 individuals per day before a shutdown is implemented. And at that rate, it’s nearly a million people annually, if he maintains the 1,500 threshold for reopening.”

Malliotakis criticized Biden’s order as “window dressing” and claimed that he created the border issue with 60 executive orders. She believes that in order to rectify the situation, he must reverse these 60 orders.

She added, “This is just a facade because he’s facing backlash from the American people. Polls show that this is the primary concern for Americans.”
