Rep. Perry Tells Newsmax: Illegal Immigrants Will Receive Automatic Work Permits
Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., said on Newsmax Friday, “Well, that’s exactly right. You heard it. And I think the reports are true. That’s what we’ve heard, is that everybody that’s here illegally — automatically gets a work permit.”
In the midst of negotiations between Senate Republicans advocating for stringent border measures, the White House is discreetly enhancing its prominent “legal pathway.” This effort aims to address a challenge confronting cities led by Democrats, where the arrival of tens of thousands of migrants has prompted the need for expedited work permits.
“More green cards, 55,000 more green cards, and unbelievably, but I’m sure very nobly, your tax dollars will be spent to hire lawyers to represent the people who come to America illegally,” Perry said on “Eric Bolling The Balance.”
The member of the House Oversight Committee added, “You know, they need legal representation when you’ve committed crimes. Usually, you’re gonna be prosecuted, and you need legal representation. Of course, that’s probably expensive, so somebody has to pay for it.
“Obviously, these people can’t. They just gave all their money to the cartels. So, the Senate decided, ‘I think that the American people will pay for that.'”
Cities under Democratic leadership, including New York and Chicago, have sought assistance in accommodating the influx of tens of thousands of migrants, frequently transported from the Texas border through GOP Gov. Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star.
New York Mayor Eric Adams has implored the federal government to streamline the process of obtaining work permits. The city grapples with the challenge of aiding over 126,000 asylum seekers and other migrants who possess limited resources, require shelter, and lack authorization to seek employment, as reported by USA Today.
“I guess they didn’t get the memo. Eric, we wanted fewer illegals to come. They [the Senate] wrote a bill to invite more,” Perry added.
