Rep. Russell Fry urges Newsmax to focus on Government spending fundamentals
According to Rep. Russell Fry, R-S.C., Washington must return to the basics in budgeting because the current spending habits of the federal government are excessive and lack accountability, as per Newsmax on Thursday.
The Republican-controlled House passed a $460 billion deal on Wednesday to prevent a partial government shutdown scheduled for this weekend. The bill, which funds various departments, still needs to be approved by the Senate before President Joe Biden can sign it into law.
During an appearance on Newsmax’s “Carl Higbie FRONTLINE,” Fry explained that he voted against the deal despite some positive aspects, stating that constituents are demanding significant changes to Washington’s spending practices.
Host Carl Higbie mentioned a provision in the spending package allocating $15 million for electronic tracking of U.S. cattle, a measure criticized by Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky.
Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., stated before the vote that the House Republicans “secured key conservative policy victories and imposed sharp cuts to agencies and programs critical to President Biden’s agenda.”
