Rep. Van Duyne Expresses Concerns to Newsmax Over Biden Holding Back Aid and Intel for Israel

Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, criticized President Joe Biden’s administration for withholding aid and intelligence to Israel amid the conflict with Hamas on Newsmax on Monday.

Van Duyne accused the administration of ignoring bipartisan congressional support for assistance to Israel and questioned its commitment to safeguarding innocent lives.

“They are not concerned about protecting one of our strongest allies in the world, and they are not truly honoring congressional intentions. The Israeli aid package passed with significant bipartisan support, but the Biden administration is trying to restrict it,” she said on “The Chris Salcedo Show.”

Van Duyne pointed out the Biden administration’s hesitation in providing immediate intelligence and weapons to support Israel in targeting Hamas terrorists.

“If they genuinely cared about the innocent Palestinians, as they claim, why are they withholding the intelligence that is available [to Israel]? Why are they not providing the necessary weapons right now to target the Hamas terrorists?” She questioned.

Van Duyne criticized the administration’s alleged efforts to play both sides of the conflict, highlighting how Hamas is endangering civilians by using them as human shields.

“The White House is attempting to navigate a middle ground, which is proving to be ineffective. The significant casualties at the moment are due to Hamas strategically placing civilians in harm’s way as shields for terrorists,” she added.

In response to reports by The Washington Post suggesting a potential quid-pro-quo offer from the Biden administration to Israel, promising intelligence support in exchange for halting military operations in Rafah, Van Duyne questioned the administration’s motives.

She called for accountability and accused the administration of failing to prioritize the safety of Israeli citizens.

“Withholding aid indicates that the Biden Administration is not truly concerned about preventing the loss of innocent lives,” she stated.

Regarding her party’s stance on holding Democrats to the same standards they imposed on Republicans, Van Duyne argued that while grounds for impeachment against President Biden exist, consistency in applying such measures is essential. She urged Democrats to contemplate impeachment proceedings against Biden for withholding aid to Israel, akin to actions taken against former President Trump.

“Currently, Congress has passed aid, and as per the Democrats’ definition of impeachment … which led to Trump’s impeachment; Democrats should be considering impeachment against Biden for the same offense, which is delaying aid to Israel after it was approved by Congress,” she asserted.

In April, a package to deliver $95 billion in foreign aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan — a bipartisan success months in the making — was endorsed in the Senate with a vote of 79-18 and subsequently signed into law by President Biden.

The Biden administration has refuted claims of withholding aid to Israel and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts to target Hamas leaders.

“We are not holding back any support,” a representative from the National Security Council asserted. “We believe that Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar should and must be held accountable for the atrocities of the October 7 attack,” as reported by the N.Y. Post reported.
