RNC Initiates Lawsuit on Election Integrity in Nevada
The Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Nevada Republican Party (NVGOP) have filed a lawsuit alleging election integrity issues in Nevada against Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar. The lawsuit claims that the state has inaccurate voter rolls and is not complying with the National Voter Registration Act.
RNC Chairman Michael Whatley stated, “Election integrity starts with clean voter rolls, and that’s why the National Voter Registration Act requires state officials to keep their rolls accurate and up-to-date.”
The lawsuit points out that three Nevada counties – Douglas, Lyon, and Storey – have more registered voters than adults over 18, and that five other counties have suspiciously high rates of registered voters.
The RNC’s lawsuit follows a threat made in December to take legal action if Aguilar did not address their concerns. In response to the initial letter, the Secretary of State’s office described the Republicans’ analysis of voter irregularities as “comparing apples to orangutans.”
Nevada has become a battleground state that Republicans aim to win back, having lost the state in the last four presidential elections dating back to 2008.
