Saint Anselm Poll: Haley Lagging Behind Trump by 14 Points in New Hampshire

According to the latest Saint Anselm College survey, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is trailing former President Donald Trump by 14 points in New Hampshire’s 2024 Republican presidential primary race.

The survey results, released on Wednesday, found that Trump has the support of 44% of primary voters, while Haley has 30%. Haley’s support has doubled from 15% in the college’s September poll.

New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu endorsed Haley last week, causing her to break away from the other candidates in pursuit of former President Trump.

Despite cutting Trump’s lead in half, she still trails behind as his support remains steady in the mid-40s. Trump’s supporters seem undeterred by the former president’s ongoing legal challenges.

New Hampshire is set to hold its GOP primary on Jan. 23.

The Saint Anselm survey found that former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie follows Haley with 12% support, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is fourth with 6%, followed by entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy with 5%.

Haley is the clear choice of New Hampshire voters who have an unfavorable opinion of Trump. 56% of respondents who don’t like Trump choose Haley as their preference, versus 31% that choose Christie.

According to the survey, 79% of Christie supporters say they would vote for Biden if Trump is the GOP nominee. Only 1% would vote for the former president.

Similarly, a CBS News poll released Sunday showed that Haley trails Trump by 15 points.

The Saint Anselm College survey was conducted from Dec. 18-19 via online surveys of 1,711 New Hampshire likely voters in the upcoming presidential primary.

The poll results also showed Biden holding a 49%-39% lead over Trump in a hypothetical rematch of the 2020 election.

It was also found that a hypothetical three-way presidential contest involving Trump in next year’s general election would benefit Biden.
