The meeting took place on Capitol Hill this Wednesday.

Cornyn expressed confidence in Ratcliffe as a strong selection by Trump, suggesting that the upcoming confirmation hearings may be relatively uneventful.

The Texas Senator also commented on other nominees of Trump, including Kash Patel for the FBI and Pam Bondi for Attorney General.

“I am committed to ensuring that we restore the integrity of agencies such as the FBI, the Department of Justice, and the intelligence community—making sure they serve as non-political bodies,” stated Senator Cornyn (R-Texas). “It is crucial that these institutions remain apolitical. I will be questioning these nominees about their dedication to this principle.”

Cornyn further stated that he believes Trump was not elected to uphold the status quo, but rather to enact significant change in the nation’s trajectory.
