Senator Ricketts tells Newsmax that offering US condolences legitimizes Iran terror
According to Sen. Pete Ricketts, R-Neb., the Biden administration’s expression of condolences to Iran after the death of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash last weekend “really legitimizes the terrorist organization that Iran is running,” as reported by Newsmax.
The State Department issued a condolence statement on Monday regarding Raisi’s death. Despite expressing support for the Iranian people and their fight for human rights and fundamental freedoms, the administration has faced criticism internationally for its restrained response.
Ricketts, speaking on “The Record With Greta Van Susteren”, attributed much of the global reaction to Raisi’s death to the United Nations being “an antisemitic organization.”
“The administration and the U.N. are wrong in their actions,” he said. “This individual was involved in planning to harm Americans, known as the Butcher of Tehran. He has contributed to Iran becoming the largest state sponsor of terrorism worldwide.
“It’s truly appalling.”
