Trump Calls for Supreme Court to Make Decision on New York Case

Donald Trump, the former President, is seeking intervention from the U.S. Supreme Court in his New York criminal trial before his scheduled sentencing on July 11.

On Thursday, Trump became the first former president to be convicted of felony crimes in New York. A jury found him guilty of falsifying business records in an attempt to influence the 2016 election through payments to an adult film actor. He was convicted on all 34 counts.

Trump expressed his concerns on Truth Social on Sunday night, stating that the sentencing is conveniently scheduled for four days before the Republican National Convention. He criticized a leftist agenda and potential bias in the judicial process involving the District Attorney and Judge.

As the presumptive Republican nominee for the upcoming general election, Trump has vowed to appeal his conviction. He has pointed out the alleged partisanship in the handling of his case by the authorities involved.

Trump has nominated three Supreme Court justices, including Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh. The Republican National Convention is set to take place on July 15-18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Trump dismissed the charges as a hoax, emphasizing that the nature of the case and the instructions given were unconstitutional. He called for the Supreme Court to intervene to prevent what he believes is election interference.

Additionally, Trump thanked former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for his support, labeling the trial as a politically driven attack aimed at boosting his chances of winning the election.
