Trump Criticizes Media for Sensationalizing ‘Bloodbath’ Comment

Former President Donald Trump criticized Democrats and the mainstream media on Monday for distorting his “bloodbath” remark regarding the U.S. auto industry.

During a rally in Ohio on Saturday, Trump highlighted the threat posed to the U.S. car industry by imports.

“If I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the whole country,” Trump stated, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Despite Trump’s clear focus on the auto industry, mainstream media outlets sensationalized the word “bloodbath.”

NBCnews.com published a story with the headline “Trump says there will be a ‘bloodbath’ if he loses the election,” while cbsnews.com wrote, “In Ohio campaign rally, Trump says there will be a ‘bloodbath’ if he loses November election.”

Responding on Truth Social on Monday morning, Trump clarified his statement.

“The Fake News Media and their Democrat Partners distorted my use of the word BLOODBATH, knowing full well I was referring to harmful imports permitted by Joe Biden that are hurting the auto industry,” Trump posted.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, who stated he will not endorse Trump in 2024, defended Trump’s intent and criticized the misinterpretation of his words.

Nancy Pelosi, former House Speaker, criticized Trump’s use of “bloodbath” without acknowledging the industry context during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union”.
