Trump Denies Instructing Removal of Security Tapes

Former President Donald Trump has denied allegations that he sought to have security footage at his private residence destroyed. Trump responded to a superseding indictment handed to him by special counsel Jack Smith, stating that the Mar-a-Lago security tapes were not deleted but were voluntarily handed over. He accused Smith of being deranged and claimed that the investigation was an example of prosecutorial fiction and misconduct. Trump also echoed his campaign mantra that President Joe Biden is seeking to investigate and prosecute his political opposition, characterizing the investigation as an attempt to catch him on obstruction. In a rally speech in Pennsylvania, Trump made several vows, including primary challenges for Republicans who refuse to confront the Biden administration and an independent special counsel to investigate allegations against the “Biden crime family.” Meanwhile, House Republicans are considering bringing an impeachment inquiry against Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Trump was the only president in US history to be impeached twice, and both times the allegations were related to investigations into alleged Biden and Democrat schemes. None of the impeachment trials resulted in a conviction.
