Trump kicks off Ohio rally with a salute to Jan. 6 ‘hostages’
Former President Donald Trump added a new element to his presidential campaign rallies on Saturday in Dayton, Ohio, by acknowledging the Jan. 6 “hostages.” This term has stirred controversy among Democrats and their liberal media allies.
“You see the spirit from the hostages, and that’s what they are hostages,” Trump stated at the Dayton rally, which was broadcast live in its entirety on Newsmax. “They’ve been treated terribly and very unfairly. And you know that and everybody knows that.”
The rally commenced with the pledge of allegiance, as it was recited by the Washington, D.C. jail housing the Jan. 6 defendants who have not yet been prosecuted – and remain uncharged in some instances.
“We’re going to be working on that soon as the first day we get into office,” Trump declared. “We’re going to save our country. We’re going to work with the people to treat those unbelievable patriots, and they were unbelievable patriots as you see the spirit just cheering.”
“They’re cheering while they’re doing that, and they did that in prison. And it’s a disgrace in my opinion.”
