Trump Lawyers on Georgia Charges Leak: No Room for ‘Mistake’
Attorneys for former President Donald Trump have accused Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ office of leaking the charges against Trump that are being presented to a grand jury. The attorneys, Drew Findling and Jennifer Little, criticized the office for not respecting the integrity of the grand jury process. Their statement came after a grand jury court docket outlining the charges against Trump briefly appeared on the court’s website before being deleted. The district attorney’s office dismissed the report as inaccurate and referred to the docket as a fictitious document. The attorneys argued that the leak was not a mere administrative mistake and highlighted constitutional violations in the case. Separately, Trump’s former impeachment lawyer, David Schoen, suggested that Trump’s attorneys could seek to move the trial to a federal court, citing the differences between the Georgia and New York cases. Schoen argued that Trump was acting in his capacity as president regarding the election, which could strengthen his case in a federal court.
