Trump’s attorney criticizes DA Bragg for prosecutorial misconduct

An attorney representing Donald Trump has sent an 11-page letter to New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr., accusing him and his office of “prosecutorial misconduct” ahead of the upcoming hush-money trial.

Attorney Todd Blanche criticized Bragg for ignoring the perjury committed by Michael Cohen, a former lawyer of Trump, who is a key witness for the prosecution in the trial.

Blanche also accused Bragg of pressuring Allen Weisselberg, the ex-chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, to plead guilty to perjury charges.

Weisselberg, 76, was given a five-month sentence and was brought to court in handcuffs.

Blanche wrote, “Your actions show that you are unfit to be District Attorney, and innocent individuals like Mr. Weisselberg are being unfairly harmed.”

Blanche expressed concern over the tactics used by Bragg’s office to compel Weisselberg to plead guilty to false charges.

Blanche also highlighted the selective prosecution of Weisselberg compared to Cohen, who has admitted to perjury but has not faced consequences.

The new criminal case against Weisselberg coincides with Trump’s upcoming trial for falsifying business records related to hush money payments during the 2016 campaign.

Blanche urged Bragg to reconsider his approach to Weisselberg and Cohen to end the selective and oppressive conduct of his office.
