Victor Hanson Tells Newsmax: Jewish Community Perceives Biden as Antagonistic toward Israel
Victor Davis Hanson, a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, emphasized in an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday that many Jewish voters perceive the Biden Administration as “hostile” towards Israel due to their appeasement of individuals with antisemitic views.
Hanson’s comments were in response to an article in The Hill where an unnamed House Democrat suggested that President Biden should distance himself from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for political gain. Several Democrats have publicly called for Netanyahu’s removal, with Rep. Jamaal Bowman of New York explicitly demanding a new election and calling Netanyahu a “maniac.” Hanson pointed out that Democrats seem out of touch with the political sentiments of the average Jewish citizen during this time.
“Many people in Israel, including the majority, don’t view Netanyahu as a hawk. They either support his policies or are even more conservative than him. Changing the government in Israel wouldn’t necessarily alter their foreign policy stance,” Hanson explained during an appearance on “Rob Schmitt Tonight.”
Hanson also expressed concern that Biden’s efforts to appease Hamas and Iran through financial support might weaken the traditionally strong Jewish support for the Democratic Party.
“By trying to appease both sides, the Democrats risk alienating both groups with their perceived weakness. This could lead to voter apathy, especially among Jewish Americans,” Hanson concluded.
