White House: No Evidence of Biden’s Knowledge of Hunter’s Deals
The Biden administration has stated that there is “zero evidence” President Joe Biden was involved in the controversial foreign business dealings of his son, Hunter Biden. White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made this claim during a briefing, following the appointment of a special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Hunter Biden’s past deals. Jean-Pierre argued that Republican lawmakers have not produced any evidence to suggest the president’s involvement or wrongdoing. However, the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability has presented testimony from former Hunter Biden business associate Devon Archer, who claimed to have spoken with Joe Biden on numerous occasions about the business dealings. Last week, David C. Weiss, a United States Attorney, was selected by Garland to lead a probe into alleged bribery schemes involving Eastern European oligarchs and the Biden family. Weiss is also overseeing a separate Department of Justice case against Hunter Biden related to federal tax misdemeanors and an illegal gun charge. Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top-ranked Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, admitted that he believes Hunter Biden engaged in “unlawful things” but expressed support for allowing the justice system to proceed with its investigation.
