Winner of W.Va. Senate GOP Primary Expected to Replace Manchin
Following Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va.’s decision not to seek reelection, it is anticipated that a Republican will claim the Senate seat.
With the Senate seat now vacant, current Gov. Jim Justice, Rep. Alex Mooney, along with five other candidates are in the running and will be listed on the ballot.
Justice received backing and endorsement from the National Republican Senatorial Committee and former President Donald Trump, while Mooney garnered support from Club for Growth and Republican Senators Ted Cruz of Texas, Rand Paul of Kentucky, and Mike Lee of Utah, as well as Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio.
According to a recent poll by MetroNews West Virginia, Justice leads with 67% support compared to Mooney’s 23%, with the remaining respondents either choosing another candidate or undecided.
