In a response to Rosie O’Donnell relocating to Ireland following his presidential election triumph, President Donald Trump shared his thoughts.

On Wednesday, Trump met with Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin and addressed O’Donnell’s recent announcement.
A reporter humorously remarked to Martin, who was in Washington D.C. for the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, “Ireland is known for its cheerful and fun-loving people. Why would you allow Rosie O’Donnell to move to Ireland? I fear she might diminish your happiness levels.”
Trump then quizzed Martin about his awareness of O’Donnell.
“Did you realize you have Rosie O’Donnell? Do you know who she is?” Trump inquired, to which Martin shook his head in denial.
“You’re better off not knowing,” Trump chuckled.
The exchange follows O’Donnell’s announcement of her move to Ireland, suggesting it was prompted by Trump’s election win.
“It has been quite wonderful, honestly. The people have been so loving, kind, and welcoming. I am very grateful,” O’Donnell, 62, expressed in a TikTok video.
She further noted her dismay regarding Trump’s policies, stating: “It’s been heartbreaking watching the political landscape unfold, and personally devastating as well. The personal and the political often intertwine.”
In conclusion, O’Donnell offered her followers some “wise advice.”
“All I can say is to safeguard your mental health. Try to avoid being consumed by chaos if you can, though I know how challenging that can be when caught in the midst of it,” she advised her audience.
“I think about everyone in the U.S. every day. I hope we can make a turnaround. I’m counting on all of you to do what’s right. Deep down, we all understand what that should be.”
The ongoing feud between Trump and O’Donnell stretches back several years.
It commenced in 2006 when Trump, then the owner of the Miss America pageant, opted against stripping reigning Miss USA, Tara Conner, of her title after allegations of excessive drinking and drug use. Instead, Trump supported her through rehabilitation, believing in second chances.
“I’ve always championed the idea of second chances,” Trump stated in a 2006 press conference, referencing his brother’s struggles with alcoholism.
He assisted the 21-year-old Conner in regaining her life and becoming an inspiration for others with similar challenges.
Conner has now been sober for 18 years and serves as a Public Advocacy Consultant for Caron Treatment Centers, helping others affected by addiction.
O’Donnell expressed her revulsion toward Trump’s decision, asserting that Conner should be held accountable for her actions instead of receiving another opportunity. She publicly criticized Trump on her show, “The View,” by referencing his past marriages and bankruptcy claims, labeling him a “snake-oil salesman.”
In response to O’Donnell’s critique, Trump labeled her “out of control.”
In a 2006 People Magazine interview, Trump commented, “You cannot make false statements. Rosie will regret what she said, and I’ll likely pursue legal action for her falsehoods – it’ll be entertaining. Rosie is a loser. A true loser. I anticipate benefiting substantially from my little Rosie.”
Since then, Trump and O’Donnell have exchanged barbs on various platforms, including interviews and political debates.
In 2015, during a Republican primary debate, Trump was asked about derogatory comments he had previously made about women, to which he replied, “only Rosie O’Donnell.”
Most recently, in December, O’Donnell criticized Time Magazine for naming Trump their man of the year for 2024.
“Man of the year, Donald Trump. Well, f**k you, Time Magazine. F**k you, sincerely,” O’Donnell exclaimed. “What about the most dangerous man of the year? Or the most criminal man of the year? How about the worst president we’ve ever had… of the year?”
Other celebrities, including disgraced television host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife actress Portia de Rossi, alongside actress Eva Longoria, have also opted to relocate following the election of the 47th president.
