Democrats who are committed to their party must come forward and speak honestly about Biden
Senior Democrats need to acknowledge that Joe Biden cannot serve another four years as president. Dean Phillips, a hopeless challenger, cannot be the only one addressing this issue.
The White House is working to discredit special counsel Robert Hur’s revelation that Biden was showing memory problems as early as 2017. Biden himself continues to demonstrate mental decline, making confusing statements and forgetting important details.
Democrats know Biden is showing signs of senility and need a better option. Vice President Kamala Harris is not the solution, as she has similar communication issues and is not well-liked by voters. Therefore, big names like Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and California Gov. Gavin Newsom need to step up.
Both Whitmer and Newsom are nationally known figures who seem to be waiting their turn to run for president, but the time for blind loyalty is over. They need to prepare to jump in soon, even if Biden remains in denial.
Senior party leaders like Chuck Schumer, Nancy Pelosi, and Hakeem Jeffries must discuss an intervention, just as their Republican predecessors did with President Richard Nixon during the Watergate scandal. Continuing to run Biden and insisting that all is well is a disservice to the party and the nation, projecting weakness to the rest of the world.
It’s time to face reality: Biden is only going to look weaker. Biden’s team may be in denial, but the rest of the party cannot afford to keep pretending. A fresh candidate must be found before it’s too late.
