Elon Musk’s delivery of Starlink kits to Hurricane Helene victims is a selfless act

Elon Musk is providing hundreds of Starlink satellite systems to areas affected by Hurricane Helene, offering aid as FEMA faces challenges in its relief efforts.

This technological achievement involves devices that connect to satellites in low orbit, enabling communication for first responders and offering 30 days of free internet access to residents of hurricane-hit regions who would otherwise be isolated.

According to Musk himself, Starlink could have been operational in these areas sooner if the Harris-Biden administration had not halted an $885 million grant to SpaceX for broadband services in rural communities back in 2022.

This need for Musk’s intervention highlights the shortcomings of the Harris-Biden administration.

The 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law allocated $42 billion for broadband infrastructure development in rural and underserved areas, but as of now, Harris-Biden have not connected anyone to these services.

Their “Broadband Equity Access and Deployment” program has just reached its “year of execution” this year, with a four-year timeline for full implementation — a level of inefficiency typical of government operations.

Apologies to the victims of Hurricane Helene. Kamala Harris and Joe Biden may provide help by 2028 . . . perhaps.

This is not the first time Musk has stepped in to assist in critical situations, such as using SpaceX’s Crew Dragon to rescue astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who were stranded at the International Space Station due to NASA’s decisions and a malfunctioning Boeing spacecraft.

Musk also sent thousands of Starlink kits to Ukraine during the early stages of the Russian invasion, greatly aiding Kyiv’s defense by enabling communication and drone operations in otherwise inaccessible areas.

Musk is often criticized by the left for his defense of free speech, even for conservative voices. However, when government efforts fall short, he consistently steps in to fill the gaps.

Former President Donald Trump has endorsed Musk’s proposal for a government efficiency commission, with Musk potentially leading it.

It is clear that such a commission will be even more necessary if Kamala Harris becomes the next president.
