Gullible Biden Returns ‘Merchant of Death’ to Putin, Who Resumes Doing the Devil’s Work
The individual known as the “Merchant of Death” has resumed selling weapons to some of the world’s most dangerous people, just a couple of years after being released from a US prison in a deal between Biden-Harris and Vladimir Putin to secure the release of WNBA star Brittney Griner from a Russian detention camp.
Despite promises from those involved in the deal that Viktor Bout wouldn’t return to his dangerous activities, it is apparent that his sales activities were aligned with Putin’s interests (while maintaining enough plausible deniability), which explains why Putin was eager to have him back.
According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Bout has recently closed a $10 million deal to supply automatic weapons, including AK-47 rifles, to the Houthis, with the possibility of selling anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles in the future.
Meanwhile, the Houthis, based in Yemen, have been disrupting commercial shipping in the Red Sea by attacking vessels (except for those flying the Chinese flag).
They have also targeted Israel and US forces in the region, with Bout’s actions clearly supporting these terrorist activities.
When the Bout deal was made, we criticized it, not because it was wrong to work towards Griner’s release, but because releasing an international criminal like Bout should have come with more concessions from the White House, considering his past as one of the most wanted criminals in the world after Osama bin Laden.
Allowing Putin to benefit significantly from such deals gives him further leverage to demand the release of more hostages on false charges.
It is crucial for Washington to take a more proactive stance and start by locating and freezing the accounts where Putin has hidden his illicit gains.
