Joe Biden’s Retreat on Cuba: More Evidence That Today’s Democrats Embrace Authoritarian Regimes
The Biden administration’s destructive actions continue: Recently, Joe (or the aides who are truly in charge) has rescinded Cuba’s status as a state sponsor of terrorism.
Indeed, the island nation did release 550 political prisoners after Biden’s monetary concessions.
However, Cuba remains a Communist regime that enforces its rule through fear and brutality against its citizens and harbors terrorist operatives from groups like Colombia’s ELN, along with fleeing criminals from the US; additionally, its secret police play a crucial role in Nicolás Maduro’s oppressive regime in Venezuela.
This decision to remove Havana’s designation as a state sponsor of terrorism has garnered immediate, justified bipartisan backlash.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) denounced the action as “unacceptable on its merits,” arguing that “the terrorism perpetuated by the Cuban regime has not stopped.”
Nikki Fried, chair of Florida’s Democratic Party, stated emphatically, “We strongly condemn Cuba’s removal from this list, as well as any potential easing of economic sanctions, and urge the Biden Administration to promptly reevaluate this decision.”
Amen to that.
It’s unlikely that Biden will change his course.
From Day 1, he and his administration have shown a commitment to assisting and enabling America’s adversaries both in the Middle East and globally.
Consider the continual appeasement of Iran, the capitulation to China, the reluctance to confront Putin, and the significant support given to drug cartels.
Yet this particular move is so egregious that the Biden administration is only executing it as they exit the stage.
Similar to how President Barack Obama brazenly undermined Israel at the United Nations in his final days, allowing the Security Council to endorse a deeply antisemitic resolution.
The near end of their term permits a final demonstration of their true intentions.
Biden’s foreign policy, like Obama’s preceding it, would have been even more detrimental if not for the constraints imposed by public opinion.
This is yet another reminder—if one was necessary—that January 20 can’t arrive soon enough for America or its allies around the planet.
