Kash Patel Can Help Reform the FBI
As FBI Director-designate Kash Patel encounters expected waves of confirmation-hearing outrage from corrupt leftist figures like Sen. Adam Schiff, it’s vital to keep in mind why — as Patel articulated in his straightforward and undeniably accurate statement on Thursday to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
He aims to ensure “we don’t have 100,000 rapes in this country next year, don’t have 100,000 drug overdoses due to Chinese fentanyl and Mexican heroin, and don’t face 17,000 homicides.
“These figures need to be halved immediately, and the public will regain trust in the FBI and law enforcement.”
This means: Redirect the FBI towards its true mission.
Transform the bureau so it ceases being a weapon for political oppression against disfavored groups like parents advocating against woke school curriculums and religious Catholics.
And stop wasting countless resources investigating imaginary Russian collusion involving Donald Trump.
Shift the focus away from misguided DEI initiatives and bizarre notions that white supremacists are the gravest national security threat we face.
Make it an agency dedicated solely to ensuring the safety of Americans, period.
For Schiff (D-Calif.) and the rest of Team Progressive Screeching, this is completely unacceptable.
They accuse Patel of planning to do to them what they have inflicted on the country over the last eight years.
But that’s simply projection.
The real reason for their opposition is that Patel’s vision for the bureau dismantles what they consider a crucial political asset.
Moreover, any suggestion that combating crime is important and should be pursued vigorously remains a significant taboo on the left.
No wonder, then, that according to Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), Patel has “made a lot of people mad.”
Patel’s comeback was spot-on: “If you’re not ticking off some people, you’re not doing your job right.”
The FBI has shown itself to be one of the most compromised institutions in American society, a situation that worsened under Biden.
It’s long overdue for a thorough overhaul, and Patel is the right person to lead that effort.
