Migrant cop-beaters indicted by DA Alvin Bragg after fleeing

Whaddya know? Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has found religion: On Thursday he announced that he’s now secured grand-jury indictments of seven illegal migrants for the beat-down of two NYPD cops last month.

Now that most of the perps have fled the state and are safely in the wind, that is.

And while facing intense heat himself — and renewed calls for Gov. Hochul to fire him.

Accompanied by Mayor Adams, the two men were trying to pull off a belated “do-over” on a case that had made New York a national embarrassment.

Police initially nabbed five of the migrants, but Bragg let several walk without even asking for bail.

One, Jhoan Boada, repaid the favor by flipping the bird (with both hands!) at New Yorkers, who were hosting him free of charge in their city.

Cops believe a group of suspects then promptly hopped a bus out of town.

Bragg claims he couldn’t ask for bail without first solidly confirming he had the right perps.

Bull.

Cops ID’d them, and a judge might’ve well seen migrants with few ties to the city as the flight risks they clearly were.

Frankly, it’s hard to tell what’s more outrageous: Bragg’s behavior or the thugs’.

The DA made a national mockery of the city by letting these guys go.

He sent a message that hoodlums the world over can come here (illegally) and do whatever they want — including assaulting cops! — and get away with it.

Here’s the latest NYP coverage on the cop beatings by migrants in Times Square:

That goes a long way toward explaining the city’s recent surge in migrant crime, such as the 62 (and possibly 150) incidents police say the “moped migrant” gang is responsible for.

No one should be surprised by Bragg’s recklessness.

On his first day in office, he instructed staff to do everything possible to avoid incarcerations.

He’s let numerous perps slide (though he did try to prosecute a 61-year-old bodega worker for the death of 35-year-old attacker in a clear case of self-defense).

New York desperately needs tougher laws, and better cooperation with federal officials who can see illegal-migrant criminals swiftly deported.

But for Manhattanites who want the madness to end soon, replacing Bragg can’t come fast enough.
