News media’s downfall was self-inflicted with sensational Trump coverage.
This piece is not just any column – it’s an obituary.
Donald Trump’s unlikely, historic, and definitive victory on Tuesday demonstrated that the supposed free press is no longer alive and well.
Major outlets like CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, The Washington Post, The New York Times, Politico, The Atlantic, and others engaged in overwhelmingly negative and often dishonest coverage in an effort to defeat Trump, but they failed spectacularly.
Despite their best efforts, they could not sway the voters to their side.
Headlines alone showed how they acted as surrogates for the Kamala Harris campaign.
When the election results came in, the mainstream media’s reaction was manic, absurd, and inadvertently comedic.
Trump and J.D. Vance secured a landslide victory by winning every swing state and even the popular vote, marking the first GOP ticket to do so since 2004.
They left Democrats and the media with no room to complain about the Electoral College superseding the will of the people.
After vigorously supporting a lackluster candidate in a futile attempt to secure her victory, these activists pretending to be journalists were left with nothing but unfiltered emotion.
It was quite a sight to watch their reactions as the results rolled in.
For instance, David Axelrod on CNN, typically a rational voice, resorted to playing the racism and sexism cards as his candidate faced a significant defeat.
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough also deployed the gender card, suggesting that if Kamala was a tall man from the South, she would have won – an argument that doesn’t hold up under scrutiny.
Sunny Hostin of “The View” took a different approach by criticizing white female Trump voters without college degrees, showcasing a certain elitism in her statements.
Amidst all the media madness, Keith Olbermann took the cake with his unfounded accusations against Russia, promising to leave the country if Trump won.
Despite the overwhelming positive coverage Harris received compared to Trump, the public opinion seemed to lean the other way as Trump may secure 312 electoral votes.
As the 45th president transitions to the 47th, the media frenzy is unlikely to die down until at least January 2029.
Thankfully, fewer and fewer Americans are paying attention to the media’s antics.
