Save the Tears, Selena Gomez: You’re Mourning for the Wrong People
The performance was nothing short of unforgettable. Selena Gomez took to the stage in a minimalist production titled: The Tears of a Clown.
In a recent Instagram video, the actress directed the camera toward herself, allowing tears to flow as she found it hard to articulate her thoughts.
Women crying on camera has unfortunately turned into its own rather sad genre on social media — often a clear cry for attention or sympathy. Yet, Gomez’s tearful message addressing President Trump’s immigration crackdowns was particularly striking.
“I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something, but I can’t,” expressed Gomez, whose grandparents hail originally from Mexico. “I don’t know what to do. I will try everything, I promise.”
“My people are being targeted.”
But just who is Gomez shedding tears for? Who does she define as her “people”?
Is she mourning for members of Tren de Aragua or MS-13? Perhaps her tears were for Edgar De La Cruz-Manzo, a convicted child rapist and Mexican national apprehended by ICE in Seattle? Or Ethiopian national Yared Geremew Mekonnen, a convicted sex offender captured by ICE in New Orleans?
The aim of these initial raids is to detain criminal illegal immigrants that sanctuary laws had previously shielded. It also aims to initiate a necessary cleanup of President Biden’s significant border issues.
As new border czar Tom Homan stated to Megyn Kelly, the focus is on prioritizing “public safety and national security threats,” noting that “Over 600,000 illegal aliens are currently walking the streets with criminal convictions.”
Such news should incite applause, not tears.
While I think Gomez is charming and enjoyable to watch on screen, it would benefit her to spend some time outside her protected Hollywood enclave, where extravagant beliefs prevail.
A significant portion of Americans—affected by the continual influx of illegal migrants, many of whom utilize government resources—voted for a return to law and order, insisting that the needs of citizens come first.
It’s clear that many voiced their discontent directly to Gomez.
She swiftly deleted the video, reacting with, “Apparently, it’s not acceptable to show empathy for people.”
But where were all the emotional outcries during the Obama presidency when the 44th president enforced the law?
“If you’re a criminal, you’ll be deported. If you intend to enter the US illegally, your chances of getting caught and sent back have significantly increased,” Obama declared in 2014 during an address on immigration. “The measures I’m implementing are not only lawful, but they are the same actions taken by every Republican and Democratic president for the past fifty years.”
Before the surge of Trump Derangement Syndrome impacted our cultural institutions, this was a unifying, bipartisan sentiment. Now, upholding the law seems to be considered unkind or malevolent.
Because Trump doesn’t whisper while handling serious issues; he wields a grand approach that captures attention.
Progressive politicians like Illinois Governor JB Pritzker boast about their refusal to adhere to federal mandates, claiming they are protecting the American dream for the weary and oppressed.
In reality, they are permitting criminals to roam freely, mockingly disregarding our laws.
Where were Gomez’s tears for Laken Riley or Jocelyn Nungaray, both of whom were murdered by migrants? Or the countless citizens killed by illegal immigrants driving under the influence?
The inaction of Democrats has triggered a chain reaction of criminal activity endangering both Americans and those yearning to enter our country.
“We must speak the truth about the tragedies occurring at our borders, about women being assaulted by cartel members, and about children facing sexual abuses. Every single day, a child dies at that border,” Homan expressed to The Post in November.
Fortunately, Homan—who also served under Obama—is transparent about his mission and remains committed. He noted to Kelly that he does not aim to gain popularity; he is focused on his responsibilities.
“Every president I worked for took significant steps to secure the border because they understand national security cannot be strong without border security,” he mentioned.
Except for Biden: “He has deliberately made the border less secure.”
It’s now Homan’s time to shine — and he isn’t shy about sharing his feelings.
“People often question, ‘Why do you get so emotional when speaking on Fox News, or why do you raise your voice during Congressional testimonies?’ It’s because I’ve witnessed more tragedies in 34 years than I can bear,” he shared.
Unlike Gomez, he is deeply enmeshed in the operational work, and there is sincerity in his mission.
