Trump’s selection of Elise Stefanik as UN envoy reveals potential for strong US leadership

It was a great decision by Donald Trump to select Rep. Elise Stefanik as the US ambassador to the United Nations.

Turtle Bay has been known for promoting hatred and misinformation, which is exactly the kind of environment that Stefanik has been fighting against.

Her track record in Congress, leading the House Republican Conference and vigilantly combating antisemitism during recent House hearings, speaks volumes about her dedication.

Right from the start, Stefanik has been a standout: a Harvard graduate who became the youngest woman ever elected to the House at the age of 30.

In the years since then, she has risen to one of the top leadership positions within the GOP. Her background as the founder of the blog American Maggie, reflecting the views of conservative women, shows her commitment to empowering women in the conservative movement.

Her experience serving on the House Armed Services and Intelligence committees makes her well-suited for the role at the UN.

In essence, she is poised to continue the legacy of bold, truth-telling UN envoys like Jeane Kirkpatrick and Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

Both Washington and the United Nations are in need of someone like Stefanik to shed light on the moral corruption at Turtle Bay.

It is a body that is led by a secretary-general, António Guterres, who has put the blame on Israel for recent events.

The International Court of Justice has made baseless accusations against Israel, accusing the country of apartheid and other violations.

Despite its mission to prevent war, the UN has shown little interest in addressing aggressive nations like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.

Her main challenges will be to hold these nations accountable and unify the world against them while restoring US leadership globally.

For example, Iran is on the brink of developing nuclear weapons, and Israel has been under constant threat for over a year.

Stefanik must work to rally Western nations like France, Spain, and Ireland against antisemitism and support efforts to prevent Iran’s hostile actions.

China’s aggressive behavior, particularly towards the Philippines and Taiwan, must be highlighted and condemned. The West, led by the US, must also take steps to prevent Russia from annexing more territory in Ukraine.

While Trump and his team are largely responsible for these challenges, the UN plays a crucial role in addressing them.

Elise Stefanik will confront and expose the world’s villains in their own territory.

The sooner she begins, the better.
