USA Today writer makes racist remarks against white people, Jerry Nadler distorts special counsel’s testimony, and other news updates

“Women’s basketball needs faces of future to be Black.”

We say: Lindsay Schnell’s column in USA Today is blatantly racist and out of touch.
She is concerned that too many white players are entering the WNBA and gaining prominence, especially after Iowa’s Caitlin Clark became the NCAA’s all-time high scorer.
In reality, the WNBA has plenty of black stars, with over 70% of the league being black, much like the NBA.
Furthermore, sports should be based on talent, not skin color. Fans have always cheered for great athletes regardless of race, dating back to before Jackie Robinson. Schnell should recognize this reality is unlikely to change.
This claim:
“[Hur’s report] represents the complete and total exoneration [of Biden].”
— Rep. Jerry Nadler, Tuesday
We say: Huh? Special Counsel Robert Hur denied that his investigation into classified documents resulted in the exoneration of President Biden, stating that he simply believed a jury wouldn’t convict the president.
Despite this, Nadler and other Democrats, like Rep. Pramila Jayapal, insisted Biden had been exonerated. This gaslighting by the Dems disregards the actual facts presented by Hur.
This charge:
“[Republicans are] avowedly against reading. They’re banning books!”
— MSNBC commentator Anand Giridharadas, Friday
We say: We question if any of MSNBC’s viewers truly believe in such nonsense.
Even if Giridharadas’ statements are hyperbolic, they significantly distort reality (Republicans merely oppose providing young children access to sexually explicit material in schools), making them nonsensical in nature.
These claims seem more like a smear tactic than a truthful representation of the situation.
This warning:
“Not since . . . the Civil War have freedom and democracy been under assault here at home as they are today.”
— President Biden, State of the Union, Mar. 7
We say: President Biden made several false statements in his State of the Union address (such as claiming to have reduced the deficit by $1 trillion and creating 15 million jobs).
However, his warning about threats to freedom and democracy may have some validity.
It is worth noting that Democrats have taken actions such as attempting to remove candidates from ballots, blacklisting critics, and seeking to impose restrictions on speech.
The Biden administration itself has used government agencies to censor social media.
While there is indeed a threat, it is not, as Biden suggested, coming from Republicans.
