Biden Pledges Aid to Ukraine Following Devastating Russian Drone Assault
President Joe Biden conveyed a clear message to the Ukrainian people: “On this day, my message to the Ukrainian people is clear: the United States stands with you,” he declared.
Reiterating U.S. support for Ukraine, President Joe Biden responded to Russia’s extensive drone attack on the nation, leaving over a million Ukrainian households without electricity.
Russia’s assault on November 27 involved 188 drones targeting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, with Ukraine’s air force intercepting 76 of them, as reported by Ukraine’s air force.
In a statement on November 28, President Biden condemned Russia’s “horrific” aerial attack on Ukraine.
The outgoing president emphasized the urgent need to support the Ukrainian people against Russian aggression.
“On this day, my message to the Ukrainian people is clear: the United States stands with you,” he affirmed. “The United States stands with more than 50 countries in support of Ukraine and its fight for freedom.”
Biden disclosed that the United States has been assisting Ukraine in bolstering its energy grid resilience ahead of winter and providing critical capabilities like artillery, rockets, and armored vehicles.
“Earlier this year, and at my direction, the United States began prioritizing air defense exports so they go to Ukraine first,” the president mentioned.
Commenting on Russia’s new Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile system, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated on November 28 that they will respond to strikes on Russian territory with long-range Western-made missiles.
Pertaining to Biden’s alleged authorization for Ukraine to use ATACMS missiles on Russian territory, Putin mentioned that it could complicate the incoming Trump administration’s peace talks with Russia.
“It’s possible that the current administration wants to create difficulties for the future administration,” Putin stated on November 28. “But as in my view of the newly elected president—he’s a quite clever and experienced man—I think he will find a solution given that he has tackled such a challenge as reclaiming the White House.”
