Kristen Bell Confirmed to Host Next Year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards
LOS ANGELES—Kristen Bell will reprise her role as the host for next year’s Screen Actors Guild Awards, which will be streamed live on Netflix for the second year in a row.
“I’m thrilled to be invited back and eager to spend the evening with my fellow performers, engaging in what we do best… celebrating ourselves,” Bell remarked in a statement on Monday. The actress, known for her roles in “Nobody Wants This” and “The Good Place,” initially hosted the SAG Awards in 2018.
The 31st annual awards event, honoring remarkable achievements in film and television, is set to stream live on Netflix on Feb. 23 at 8 p.m. Eastern time from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles. Last year’s ceremony was hosted by Idris Elba.
“Kristen Bell’s humor, warmth, and charisma make her the ideal choice for our show—a night dedicated to celebrating actors and their exceptional work throughout the year,“ stated Jon Brockett, the executive producer of the SAG Awards. ”And let’s be honest, everybody wants this.“
In addition to starring in the Netflix comedy series “Nobody Wants This” alongside Adam Brody, Bell is also an executive producer. She has appeared in projects like “The People We Hate at the Wedding,” “The Woman in the House,” and “The Good Place” featuring Ted Danson. Her filmography includes titles such as “Queenpins,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” and she voices Anna in Disney’s “Frozen.”
During the awards ceremony, Jane Fonda will receive the SAG life achievement award.
Nominations will be revealed on Jan. 8.
