Pilot Relieves Minor Injuries After Small Plane Crashes at Long Beach Airport

A small plane crashed into the roof of a hangar at Long Beach Airport on July 10, but the pilot managed to escape with only minor injuries.
According to a Long Beach Fire Department spokesman, crews were dispatched at 2:18 p.m. to the 2900 block of East Spring Street on a report of a single-engine aircraft that crashed into the roof of a hangar. Video from the scene showed the small plane propped upright, sticking out of the hangar roof.
The only person aboard the plane was examined at the scene and was later taken to a hospital for minor injuries, the spokesman said.
The pilot was walking about before being taken to the hospital.
There was no immediate word on what caused the plane to crash and whether it had just taken off or was attempting to land when the crash occurred.
