Taylor Swift’s father allegedly punched photographer in the face following Sydney show | Entertainment & Arts News

An Australian photographer alleges that he was assaulted by Taylor Swift’s father in Sydney after the singer’s concert.

Ben McDonald claimed that the incident took place at Neutral Bay Wharf, where Swift and her father had just disembarked from a yacht following the singer’s final show in the city.

Although authorities did not disclose names, police stated that they are looking into an alleged assault by a 71-year-old man on a 51-year-old man at 2:30 am local time.

Swift’s representatives have yet to respond to inquiries, but a spokesperson informed Rolling Stone magazine that two individuals were trying to forcefully approach Swift.

They also mentioned that these individuals grabbed security personnel and made threats towards a member of the singer’s team.

McDonald said that the media was present to capture images of the star as she approached two cars.

“There were approximately four or five security personnel present, and at one point, one of the American security personnel started pushing his umbrella towards me and my camera, after which Taylor got into her car,” he explained.

“Another person ran towards me and punched me on the left side of my face.”

“Initially, I thought it was an Australian security attempting to be heroic in front of the Americans, but it turned out to be her father.”

McDonald mentioned that he recognized Swift’s father, Scott Swift, from an online photo, adding that he did not sustain any bruises and did not require medical attention.

“In 23 years, I haven’t been assaulted and punched in the chops, particularly by the talent’s dad,” McDonald expressed.

“We didn’t rush down the jetty. We didn’t hurry to the back of the boat. We waited for her to arrive. We kept it very civil.”

“But no, they… raised the umbrellas and positioned them over her, then pushed the umbrellas towards our faces, making it seem like we were the ones initiating contact.”

Swift left the country on Tuesday after over 600,000 fans attended her Eras Tour performances in seven concerts.
