Unidentified white powder and death threat sent to Donald Trump Jr’s Florida home | US News
Donald Trump Jr has reportedly received a threatening letter with an unidentified white powder, prompting a response from authorities.
Emergency crews and hazmat teams were observed outside the Florida residence of Mr Trump Jr following the 46-year-old’s discovery of the envelope.
A spokesperson for Mr Trump Jr, eldest son of former President Donald Trump, confirmed the incident to Sky News’s US partner NBC News. Test results on the white substance found in the letter were inconclusive, but officials did not believe it posed a deadly threat.
Local police reported that the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation, though no further details have been disclosed at this time.
This marks the second occurrence of white powder being sent to Mr Trump Jr, with a previous incident involving his ex-wife Vanessa in 2018.
In a separate incident in 2016, a threatening letter with white powder was sent to Mr Trump Jr’s brother Eric’s Manhattan apartment, which was also deemed harmless.
Mr Trump Jr expressed his disappointment with the situation, stating, “It’s just become a little bit too commonplace that this sort of stuff happens. It doesn’t matter what your politics are, this type of behavior is unacceptable.”
He had made similar remarks after the 2018 incident, emphasizing the safety of his family amid such unsettling events.
Mr Trump Jr is a prominent figure in his father’s political campaigns, often representing him in public appearances and media interviews. The use of white powder in hoax attacks evokes memories of the post-9/11 anthrax scare, underscoring the seriousness of such incidents.
