US intelligence agencies confirm that the video showing Pennsylvania ballots being destroyed is false Russian propaganda
A video circulating online this week purportedly shows someone ripping up ballot forms marked for Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and the FBI issued a joint statement on Oct. 25 stating that the video depicting someone tearing up ballots is a product of Russian disinformation.
The video, which has been circulating on social media, appears to show someone tearing up ballots marked for Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
Upon review, the Bucks County Board of Elections confirmed that the video is not authentic.
Officials from Bucks County reported the video to law enforcement, the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office, the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, the Pennsylvania Department of State, and the FBI.
CISA and the FBI examined the video and released a statement in conjunction with the ODNI, which oversees the broader U.S. intelligence community (IC).
The ODNI, FBI, and CISA mentioned that the fake video is part of Russia’s attempt to sow doubt about the U.S. election’s integrity and divide Americans.
The statement warns that Russia is likely to release more media content aimed at undermining trust in the election and creating division.
Details on how the U.S. intelligence and security agencies identified Russian actors behind the video were not provided in the statement.
The Epoch Times reached out to the ODNI for further information but had not received a response by the publication deadline on Oct. 26.
Pennsylvania, a crucial swing state, could play a pivotal role in the outcome of the 2024 presidential election.
