US News: Harvey Weinstein hospitalized with COVID-19 and double pneumonia
Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood movie mogul, has been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19 and developing double pneumonia.
The 72-year-old is currently receiving treatment for a range of health issues at Bellevue Hospital’s prison ward in New York, according to his representative Craig Rothfeld and prison consultant for Sky’s US partner network NBC News.
Rothfeld mentioned that Weinstein is dealing with diabetes, high blood pressure, spinal stenosis, and fluid in his heart and lungs among other health conditions that he continues to face every day.
“Additionally, Mr. Weinstein has tested positive for COVID and has double pneumonia in his lungs,” Rothfeld added.
Double pneumonia occurs when both lungs are infected.
Weinstein has been in prison since 2020, and had a 10-day stay at Bellevue Hospital earlier this year. His lawyer, Arthur Aidala, described his health as declining but his mental sharpness as still intact.

Weinstein’s landmark 2020 conviction in New York resulted in a 23-year prison sentence and sparked the global #MeToo movement. However, in April, the conviction was overturned by the state’s highest court due to improper rulings that prejudiced the original trial.
The dismissal of his conviction did not lead to his release as he was also convicted in Los Angeles in 2022 of another rape, for which he received a 16-year prison sentence. He is currently appealing this conviction.
Weinstein continues to deny the allegations of rape and sexual assault against him.
